AVHS joins other animal shelters and rescues across the state to help pets and people find each other throughout the month of December!

Bellevue, WA, November 23, 2020—Auburn Valley Humane Society (AVHS) is participating in the 9th Annual Statewide Shelter Open House hosted by Pawsitive Alliance throughout the month of December 2020. The event will raise awareness about homeless animals and help those pets find forever homes. AVHS joins other animal shelters and rescues in every region of the state to participate in this exciting event.

While you can not join us in person, you may go to the AVHS website to see the animals that are available, make an appointment and meet your next best friend. AVHS will feature adoptable animals on its website https://www.auburnvalleyhs.org/adopt-a-pet and its facebook page during the month of December.

The Pawsitive Alliance website page, http://www.pawsitivealliance.org/shelter-open-house.html, shows a full list of participating organizations. Eighteen Washington State animal shelters and rescues will be highlighting the great work that they do.

“We are very excited about this year’s Shelter Open House,” says Tereza Marks, Executive Director of Pawsitive Alliance, “New shelters are participating and this year, because most shelters are operating on an appointment only model, we are inviting rescue groups, as well. Check out your local shelter or rescue to meet your new best friend.”

Last year’s 8th Annual Shelter Open House had over 400 animals adopted in just one day.  This year’s event should be larger than ever because the event has been extended to an entire month. As supplies last, adopters will receive goody bags with helpful items to get them and their new four-legged friend off to a great start.  A special thanks to Nylabone, Wacky Walk’r Wonderball, Fluff and Tuff, Kong, Naturally Fresh Cat Litter, Natural Balance Pet Food, Taste of the Wild Dog Food, and Gentle Giants Dog Food for the donations to include in these bags.
