Seniors Pets for Seniors

The AVHS Seniors for Seniors program offers free adoptions and 1st year of city licensing to senior citizens living in Auburn, Washington.  The adoption program is all about senior citizens rediscovering the joys of having a cat or dog in their lives and the benefits it brings. The program places senior cats and dogs (over 7 years of age) with senior citizens who are 62 years of age or older.

Research tells us that companion animals, such as cats and dogs, can help improve our physical and mental health. By adopting and spending time with an animal friend, seniors experience less depression and loneliness, get more physical activity, benefit from lowered stress levels and lower blood pressure and increase their opportunities to interact socially. Often times it is harder to find homes for senior animals. The quiet and doting home of a senior citizen is the perfect match for an older animal looking for a new home. Because senior animals are often gentler, calmer and often are already trained, they great companions for senior citizens.

To apply for this program, please download, print, and complete the Seniors Pets for Seniors Application using the button above, as well as the Feline or Canine adoption forms using the buttons above.
